Definition of the permanent resident population

Canton

New status of the cantons of Bern and Fribourg, following the transfer of Clavaleyres from one canton to the other
No indication: Asylum seekers (N, S and unallocated permits) belonging to the non-permanent resident population to whom no canton or commune could be allocated.

Residence permit

On 11 March 2022, in response to the influx of people fleeing the fighting in Ukraine, the Federal Council activated protection status S. A number of people were already in Switzerland before the war broke out and obtained S status. These people are therefore included in the permanent resident population.
