Description of the cube:
This interactive table presents the environmental protection expenditure of enterprises by economic activity, environmental domain and type of expenditure. This expenditure measures the economic effort aimed at the prevention, reduction and elimination of pollution or any other degradation of the environment (Eurostat, OCDE). It includes the investments for prevention and treatment of pollution as well as current internal expenditures, purchase of services to third parties and communal fees. Expenditure that may have a positive impact on the environment but serving primarily other purposes than the protection of the environment itself is excluded. The results presented here come from a survey based on a random sample of approximately 9000 enterprises with more than two employees active in the secondary and tertiary sector. The branches 37, 38 and 39 « Sewerage, waste management and remediation activities » of the General Classification of Economic Activities (NOGA 2008), were excluded since their main activity is the supply of environmental protection services to the enterprises, to households and to public administrations. The branch 84 « Public administration » is also excluded. In some services sector, only purchases of third parties services and communal fees were collected. When calculating the results 2020, the results 2018 were recalculated in order to take into account new information provided by some enterprises.
